Too Much or Not Enough?

Recently, I ran across a clip that was quite interesting. It
showed a church celebrating their 132nd Church Anniversary.
During the clip, various generations were acknowledged and
that's where it became really interesting... to say the least :>)
To get the true essence of it... watch it all the way through.

When you see the clip I would like to hear from you. Was it too
much or not enough?

  1. That was very interesting. You don't quite know whether to say it was good or bad you just have to categorize it as interesting.

  2. As I watched this video I had to laugh and as I laughed I looked at the message that was behind it. One, the music, dance, message and voice in the music has changed.

I was glad to see that everyone in the church was comfortable enough to show that they are still human and do not hid behind a cover like they don't listen to the music when their at home.

One thing I did notice is you could tell the ones that was still going out to the clubs, from the ones that was just taking the moment to just have fun and share generational love within the body. That's where it got funny because they where dancing really hard.

I thought it was wonderful as long as they understood what was trying to be related. I do hope as they finished a message came through. But even if it didn't I think they had fun celebrating their church.

It would of been nice to see the music between gospel and contemperary through the generations.

  3. I have to agree with you. The one thing that brought a commonality was that everyone knew the first few songs. Don't act like you haven't heard those songs :>) Also, to see all the many generations represented in that particular church was great to see as well!

  4. I found it was interesting to see the reactions and the participation of all the members of this church I also found it entertaining because eventhough they were playing secular music in the church I know it made people think of were God has brought them from. I also think that this showed the human side even the Deacon that has been saved/serving for 30 years was doing his thang.... I just hope that the piont of this exercise was clearly expressed to the members of this congregation.

  5. While watching this I got a sense that the generations needed to be bridged for whatever reason. I think that music has been a constant in all of our lives and our culture. The venue may not have been the most appropriate place, but we do seem to deem it as a family setting. A person could critique this in many different angles. The thing that stuck out for me is the Body of Christ being able to appreciate each other, remember where we came from, and move on together. I applaud this Pastor for going outside of the tradition, and using secular music to get the point across.

  6. WHILE WATCHING THIS I THOUGH ABOUT THE WORD OF GOD SAYING: KEEP WATCH OVER YOURSELVES AND ALL THE FLOCK OF WHICH THE HOLY SPIRIT HAS MADE YOU OVERSEERS. BE SHEPHERDS OF THE CHURCH OF GOD, WHICH HE BOUGHT WITH HIS OWN BLOOD (ACTS 20:28). A PASTOR IS TO PATIENTLY, STEADILY, GENTLY, AND LOVINGLY SANDS THE PEOPLE OF GOD WITH THE WORD OF GOD AND SOAKS THEM WITH THE SPIRIT OF GOD. THAT ALLOWS THE WORD OF GOD TO WORK AND REMOVE THEIR "ROUGH EDGES" AND TO SHAPE THEM INTO "STRAIGHT ARROWS" USEFUL TO THE LORD......CONTINUE

  7. ...THE SOAKING OF THE SPIRIT BRINGS THEIR "GRAIN" -- THE INNER WORKINGS, THOUGHTS, AND IMAGINATIONS OF THEIR HEARTS -- TO THE SURFACE SO THE WORD CAN CONTINUE TO SAND THEM FURTHER...AFTER ALL, APOSTLES GET TO RAISE THE DEAD..AND THAT'S EXCITING. PROPHETS GET TO CALL THE PEOPLE FORWARD..AND THAT'S EXCITING.EVANGELISTS GET TO SEE LOTS OF PEOPLE GETTING SAVE..AND THAT'S EXCITING. BUT THE PASTOR? HE DEVOTES HIS TIME FAITHFULLY AND PATIENTLY TO SANDING AND SOAKING, SANDING AND SOAKING, THE FLOCK THAT GOD HAS CALL TO SHEPARD. WHERE IS THE CHURCH GOING?

  8. Even Jesus went to a wedding and sat with the sinners, and I have to believe that they where not playing Gospel or Christian music as they where doing this. I would like to think that the Pastor of the Church was not trying to be misleading, but just trying to show how times have changed within the Generation. We can't be so earthly that where no Heavenly good And we can't be so Heavenly that where no Earthly good.

They where celebrating themselves as a family together at that moment in time.

I think if they would of allowed it to continue or had a party after church playing the contemperary music then it would be a really big issue.

We have to laugh and have fun and pick at the things we have grown from because if we don't then we become bored and depressed which could cause most to go back into a world where they felt was more exciting.
